I Won – An Awesome Bag

Hi there,

I’m quite busy right now and the heat wave is still there. I just finished reading another book and you’ll get a review soon – pinky promise 🙂

Last week I won something awesome that I wanted to show you. Like many of my colleagues studying English, I struggle with Denglish, that is constantly mixing German (Deutsch) and English. It’s a wonderful language of its own, but stylistically, it’s terrible. So I was more than happy when I found out that I won an accessory that fits my terrible habit: a Denglish tote bag. And here it is (also included in the picture are all the great goodies that came with it. And please note the beautiful stamps)

I won this great bag at Lovelybooks and if you like it, you can get one for yourself, or your mom, or your friend at The Hipstery. They also have other great Germany related things. To promote the items at The Hipstery, Adam Fletcher, one of the owners of the store, even wrote a book. It’s called How To Be German In 50 Steps and it is written in German and English. He even works on another book called Denglish For Better Knowers. How awesome is that? (Yep another awesome there. I love Denglish)

You haven’t read all Neil Gaiman books? Me neither. Well, now seems to be the perfect time. As Neil Gaiman’s new book The Ocean at the End of the Lane is out since yesterday (June 18th), it seems Amazon decided to lower the price on many Neil Gaiman Kindle books. You can get books like The Graveyard Book, Coraline or Stardust for under 5 Euros (I think they also are under $5 for US customers, I only see the price they charge for European customers and that’s usually higher and they are still under $5. Unfortunately, I cannot see the price information for the UK, but I think the same applies here. Just check.).

Just head over to your country’s Amazon site and search for Neil Gaiman Kindle books 🙂 Happy Shopping!

Incoming ARC – Provence, 1970

I am thrilled to announce that Clarkson Potter provided me with an advance reading copy (ARC) of Provence, 1970 by Luke Barr. The book will be out in October 2013. I will read it as soon as I can and then I’ll get back to you with a review.

Win – The Book Depository

About a month ago, I won something so big, I still cannot believe it. The Book Depository often has so-called competitions where you can books and other stuff. And as I buy most of my books there, I always enter these competitions. I never thought I’d win something at The Book Depository because there’s probably hundreds of thousands of people entering their competitions BUT one day I had an e-mail from them and I almost thought it was a promo e-mail. Still, I gave it a second look and it said that I won a competition and that I will receive 15 different books. How awesome is that? Two weeks later, they were in the mail and as you can see, it was a very nice mix. Even my dad is happy about this win. He picked 5 books to read too 🙂

Twinings Goodie Bag

I’m a huge fan of Twinings, and I was one before all this happened. This goodie bag story actually started when Twinings announced on their Facebook page that they would hold an Easter Makes, Bakes and Treats Contest. At this point, I had already been in the process of crafting egg warmers out of felt for some days and so I thought, why not give it a shot? I took this picture of my egg warmers with a freshly-baked brioche bunny of the lot I made for some friends and posted it to Twinings’ Facebook wall.

Twinings reposted my picture, which made me very happy and now, about two weeks later, the mail man brought me this:

Biokiste – Organic Box

Today our first Biokiste from the organic farm Achleitner Biohof arrived. There’s three sizes and lots of different boxes to choose from. You can also choose between weekly and biweekly delivery.

We decided to order the small “Mutter-Kind” box. It had tomatoes, carrots, 2 small cucumbers, 2 kiwis, 3 bananas, 4 small apples, mushrooms and an eggplant in it and cost about 14€. The produce is organic and looks fresh. The box was delivered to our door. As soon as we cook something, I’ll tell you more.
